NFL Week 8 Recap + MNF Preview !!
from Straight Outta Vegas AM Hosted by Pregame.com
Munaf Manji and Dave Essler recap NFL Week 8. Munaf Manji and Dave Essler break down every Sunday game from NFL Week 8, hunt for early Week 9 value and deliver their Monday Night Football read on the Chicago Bears at the Seattle Seahawks on this episode from the Pregame.com Podcast Network. At 1:45 the show opens with the biggest story of the week, as Lamar Jackson leaves the Bills game in the first quarter with a thumb injury on his throwing hand that requires surgery and a move to injured reserve, and backup Tyler Huntley follows with a turf toe injury, forcing Baltimore to its emergency quarterback in a 36 to 10 loss. Buffalo outgains the Ravens 426 to 144, and Uncle Dave makes the Ravens team total under against Jacksonville his first Thursday night play. At 6:38 the Bengals need overtime to survive the Titans 43 to 36 despite 462 passing yards and five touchdowns from Joe Burrow, and Dave explains why he wants to buy Cincinnati but simply cannot trust that defense after it allowed 158 rushing yards. At 11:38 Gardner Minshew and Tyler Allgeier rally the Cardinals past the Cowboys 33 to 30 in overtime, Arizona outgains Dallas 467 to 261, and Dave says nothing changes in Dallas until Jerry Jones changes while flagging the Cowboys team total over at Indianapolis. At 17:57 the Lions hand the Vikings their first loss 19 to 15, and Dave would take Minnesota catching a field goal at home against Buffalo on Monday Night Football while leaning Miami as Detroit lays seven on the road. At 22:22 the Patriots beat the Dolphins 24 to 19 but Miami covers late, cashing a large ticket for Dave, who now likes the over in Patriots and Packers. At 26:40 the Raiders outlast the Jets 38 to 33 behind two Brock Bowers touchdowns and two defensive or special teams scores, and Dave wants to fade the Jets sooner rather than later. At 31:00 the Steelers run for nearly 200 yards in a 27 to 6 win over the Browns, while Dave questions whether that ground game is sustainable and leans New Orleans in Week 9. At 35:57 Tampa Bay runs for 324 yards in a weather soaked 16 to 0 shutout of Atlanta with Baker Mayfield attempting just three passes, and Dave targets Falcons overs going forward. At 39:41 the Jaguars crush a Colts team in full fire sale mode 42 to 7, at 44:11 the Rams handle the winless Chargers 24 to 9, and Dave likes Washington plus 5.5 against the Rams while Munaf would lay 4.5 with Houston against the Chargers. At 48:39 Bo Nix and the Broncos rally past the Chiefs 28 to 24 with a 15 to 0 fourth quarter, and Munaf backs Carolina plus three at home off extra rest. At 53:31 the Commanders beat the Eagles 27 to 10 on Sunday Night Football, and Dave says Philadelphia has bigger problems than anyone realizes when Saquon Barkley is held to 30 yards, backing the Giants on the moneyline next week. At 59:32 the crew previews Bears at Seahawks, with Seattle laying three and drifting toward 3.5 on a total of 46.5. Dave doubts Jeffery Simmons moves the needle in less than a week and sides with the Seahawks, who cannot afford a fourth loss, while Munaf notes Seattle has not allowed 200 passing yards to any quarterback this season but would grab the Bears at plus 3.5 and lean over.
