Auckland continues to prove that it's the sporting capital of the country. The city played a major role in this year's FIFA Women's World Cup - hosting nine matches. As a result, more than $87 million in GDP was injected into the region's economy, and over 175,000 guest nights were recorded in the city. Tataki Auckland Unlimited chief executive Nick Hill told Tim Dower that Auckland's hotels, restaurants, and tourist hot spots all bought in to the event.
