His eduacation consists of a BA from Bowling Green State University and an MA in Sociology from University of Washington. During his time on the council, he chaired numerous committees, including Parks, Public Safety, Human Services, Housing, Arts and Culture. Licata is also a published author of a children's book. Nick Licata was Founder and board member of The Civic Foundation, a voluntary organization devoted to promoting neighborhood issues. He served as President of the 911 Media Arts Center board, Washington's only non-profit, educational organization supporting the creative use of media as a communication and art-making tool in a democratic society.
