Nidui, Cherem, and Vengeance for Kavod ha'Torah (Hilchos Talmud Torah 7:13)

from Rambam Bekius · host Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! This afternoon (5/26/22), in our Rambam Bekius chavurah, we learned through the final halachos in the perek. The first couple of halachos were miscellaneous details in nidui and cherem. The last halachos were about how a chacham should conduct himself with regards to nidui. Ordinarily we would have spent more time on these last halachos, were it not for the fact that I gave a shiur on this last summer (8/4/21). And so, with that, we finished this round of Hilchos Talmud Torah! בריך רחמנא דסייען----------מקורות:רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות תלמוד תורה ז:יגQafih, Publisher's Introduction to the Mishneh Torah: https://mhcny.org/pdf/Introduction%20to%20Mishneh%20Torah.pdfקהלת ז:כא-כברמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות דעות ב:ג; ז:ז-----This week's Torah content has been sponsored by Alex K. Each session consists of us reading through the Rambam's writings together without much preparation on my part, and without going into depth by consulting commentaries or primary sources. For all these reasons, there are bound to be inaccuracies, errors, and other types of shortcomings which would not be acceptable in a prepared shiur, but are quite typical of a bekius chavurah.-----If you have questions, comments, or feedback, I can be reached at rabbischneeweiss at gmail.-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss.
