The movie is a fictional portrayal of a real talk show host who was murdered by a psychotic, obsessive listener. The Barry Champlain character (played by Eric Bogosian) was a provocateur (the man you love to hate) who held a mirror up to the audience and told both truth and lies. His perspective was an example of the frustrations of crumbling society. I’m not Barry Champlain.
