Nikki Hiltz of Mission AC on Handling Success As A Young Runner, Being Openly-Gay

from The CITIUS MAG Podcast | A Running + Track and Field Show · host CITIUS MAG

Nikki Hiltz joins the CITIUS MAG Podcast after winning the BAA Invitational Mile over the weekend in 4:40.1. She sat down with us and David Melly, host of the Run Your Mouth Podcast, for a crossover episode. Last year, we taped a crossover with Sam Parsons so we decided to continue the tradition in Boston. Before Nikki became a professional runner for adidas and the Mission Athletics Club, she was a standout runner at Los Aptos High School in California. She went on to attend the University of Oregon before transferring to Arkansas. She finished her collegiate career as a six-time All-American with a third place finish in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships and runner-up finish a the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Most recently, she was fifth at the U.S. Indoor Championships in the Mile. She currently trains in San Diego with her team and under coach Terrence Mahon. On this show, we discuss her recent win handling success as a high school star, being openly gay, training and racing with her girlfriend, transferring from Oregon and much more. The audio is a little muted for me and David but what’s most important is what Nikki has to say. Apologies about that. -------------- Support for the CITIUS MAG Podcast comes from SOAR RUNNING.
