Nile Kinnick: Greatest #24 in College Football | Iowa Hawkeyes Football News

Nile Kinnick, Iowa’s lone Heisman winner, just earned the ultimate honor: being named the greatest college football player to ever wear number 24. His 1939 season was legendary—600+ passing yards, 11 TDs, 400+ rushing yards—and he walked away with the Heisman, All-American, Big Ten MVP, and AP Male Athlete of the Year. Now, number 24 is officially etched in college football history, joining only number 62 (Cal Jones) as retired by Iowa. ESPN’s ranking confirms his transcendent talent, cementing his legacy not just for the Hawkeyes, but across generations of fans and players.
