Nina's Story
from Blocked Britain · host Blocked Britain
Nina, 29, from Norwich North in the East of England, wanted to train as a nurse but found herself blocked by a healthcare system that refuses to fund the training places communities desperately need. Despite clear demand for healthcare workers across the East of England, HM Treasury's spending constraints on Health Education England meant training budgets were capped far below what was needed. The nurses were ready to train, the wards needed them, but Westminster chose to treat public investment as a cost rather than recognizing that the government which issues the pound cannot run out of pounds. Nina's story exposes how political choices masquerade as resource constraints in our healthcare system. Recorded in Norwich North, Norfolk. Full disclosure: this podcast advocates for monetary sovereignty and increased public investment.
