Ninja Tune Podcast - Discwoman

from Ninja Tune Podcast

Underrepresentation of women in music is nothing new. Female:Pressure released a report in 2013 that revealed that the average female representation at major music festivals was a dismal  8.4 per cent. However, some booking agencies and collectives are spearheading an effort to rebalance line-ups across the world. This episode of the Ninja Tune podcast finds Emma Burgess-Olson AKA Discwoman & Technicolour Record's UMFANG in conversation with Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson, co-founder of Discwoman, a booking agency that exclusively represents cis women, trans women, and genderqueer artists. Together with their roster, their agency is helping to increase inclusivity in dance music whilst putting on exciting & diverse club nights that have seen their profile grow exponentially across the industry. We caught up with them before their September show at Corsica Studios, London. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
