NIPSCO files for three rate hikes while customers suffer power outages
from Chicago All Local
NIPSCO filed for the increases with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on the day of the first storm on August 11th, then again on August 14th and 20th, according to the POST-TRIBUNE. The Regulatory Commission's documents show the three rate increases will add up to 7-dollars, 33-cents per month, per customer. The increases are "trackers", which allow NIPSCO to adjust rates to recover costs, or issue credits to customers if NIPSCO underspends. For the three trackers, one is for regional transmission organization adjustment, another is for fuel adjustment and the last is resource adequacy adjustment.
