NLA: Zim pt. 2 - Attendance at CBB games, Christensen turns down $1M+ to stay at SDSU

from Happy Hour with John Gaskins · host John Gaskins

Following "Zim part 1" discussion about SDSU hoops (women and men), Zim and John chat about the large and palpable crowds in both Brookings and Fargo for the NDSU-SDSU showdowns last week. This led to a larger discussion about declining attendance the last several years at local and regional college basketball games in general. Well, except at SDSU (for the most part). The hosts pick apart why not as many people go to games despite plenty of the Div. I and Div. II teams in the Dakotas being consistently decent-to-great.   Then, a major tidbit after the college football transfer portal window closed on Friday — SDSU All-MVFC lineman Quinten Christensen turning down over $1,000,000 from an SEC school to stay at SDSU for his final season, which leads to a larger discussion about the Jacks retaining all but one starter while NDSU and USD didn't quite come out as solid. (There is nuance to it all.)   The pod's plane lands in Minneapolis with a word about the Minnesota Vikings and how they didn't fit into the playoff picture in a year when things were far more ripe-for-the-taking than most.
