No confirmation yet that 9-year-old Pietermaritzburg girl died from H1N1 virus

SAfm — Giselle Dariele Chetty from Deccan Rooad Primary School in Pietermaritzburg was buried on Monday after contracting the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu. The KwaZulu- Natal Health department said there was no confirmation yet that 9-year-old Pietermaritzburg girl died from swine flu. Since then, there have been two cases of swine flu from pupils at the school which has resulted in the suspension of lessons to conduct a "deep sanitisation" of its classrooms. Following the news of the death of Giselle Chetty, only 350 pupils out of 1,097 have attended school since Monday. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Advocate Rumen Maistry on the cases of swine flu at Deccan Road Primary School in Pietermaritzburg.
