No Cows Needed for This Butter

from News For Kids · host ICRT

No Cows Needed for This Butter Mmm … Toast and butter, yum! Most butter is made from cow's milk. But a company has a new way to make butter. It uses carbon dioxide and other gases that come from the air. It heats the gases. That makes the fat for the butter. No cows are needed! But why are they making butter this way? Well, cows create a lot of pollution. They belch methane. Methane is a bad gas. It makes the Earth warmer. Cows also need lots of land to live on and water to drink. Using cow's milk for butter is bad for the Earth. The company says its butter is a much better butter for the Earth. It doesn't make bad gases. It doesn't need land. It uses very little water. This new butter tastes like… butter! But is it safe to eat? The butter is being checked now. If it's safe, the company can start selling it in 2025. So…. when you put butter on your toast, remember: soon it might be made from air! 1. made from 用什麼做的 Ummm, this shrimp tastes good! This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
