Devotional 1: No Longer Obligated Scripture: Romans 8:12 - "Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it." Explanation: Paul reminds believers that we are no longer under obligation to live according to the flesh. Now that we belong to Christ and have His Spirit within us, our responsibility has shifted. We are called to walk in step with the Spirit, not to satisfy our old sinful cravings, because of our gratitude to God. This is not about trying harder to be good, but about surrendering to the Spirit who empowers us to live in a new way. Application: Today, reflect on what it means to live with this new sense of obligation—not driven by fear or guilt, but by love and gratitude for what Christ has done. Let go of habits or attitudes that draw you back to the flesh, and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you into new patterns of thought and behavior. Reflection Questions: 1. What old desires or patterns still try to pull you away from walking with the Spirit? 2. How can you practically choose the Spirit’s way today?
