The NHL trade deadline has come and gone. The Edmonton Oilers didn't make any deals today but managed to bring in Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from the Anaheim Ducks and also Troy Stetcher from the Arizona Coyotes, without moving out any players. Somehow, the Golden Knights managed to acquire Tomas Hertl from the San Jose Sharks, who still has six years left on deal. The Sharks also retained 17% of his contract, despite the remaining years. Also happening before the deadline, Jordan Eberle resigned with the Seattle Kraken, Matt Dumba moved to the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Winnipeg Jets added Tyler Toffoli to an already juiced forward group. Perhaps what was more interesting than what did happen on deadline day was what didn't happen. The Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings almost linked up on a massive blockbuster that just didn't quite get to the finish line according to our insider Frank Seravalli and teams like the New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, and Dallas Stars didn't make any additional moves on deadline day.The Oilers stood pat on deadline day and considering what other teams in the Western Conference did accomplish, that feels underwhelming.
