No one can legislate who we love

We are not even even three weeks in to the Trump presidency and in many ways it feels like it has been three years.All of the promised legislation and executive orders are underway and it would be easy for us to be demoralized by this.But no matter what laws are passed no one can tell us who to love.No one can legislate away our care for one another. No one can take away the beauty of chosen family. No one can stop us from being the one’s who practice love.And that love includes your love for yourself. It is more important than ever that we learn to love ourselves. I’ve probably read and watched too much of the anti-trans rhetoric of the last three weeks. But I am not the monster they want to make me out to be.I am beautiful.I am strong.I am Queerfully and wonderfully made—and so are you!When you look in the mirror say out loud: I love myself. Replace every negative thought you have about yourself with two positive thoughts.Love yourself like your life depends on it.No one can take that away from you.
