No Scorn nor Despise (Galatians 4:13-14)
from Wrestling with Theology · host Rev. Doug Minton
"You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first, and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me" (Galatians 4:13-14). Paul began his ministry in Galatia because he was sidelined with some ailment. We don't know what this ailment was, but we know that the Galatians didn't scorn or despise him because of it. It was not a hindrance to his ministry. For some, it might have been the main drawing aspect of his example. You should not scorn nor despise your pastor. He comes to you with God's Word. It might not be popular. It might not be what you want to hear. But it is God's Word. It is the message that you need to hear. You might consider your pastor as a trial you must endure. But he is sent to declare Jesus' trial for you. His suffering in His body so that you might be saved. Amen.
