No summer break for the Canadian gambling industry

from Gaming News Canada Show

Remember the days when Canada Day meant the start of a summer slowdown that included early Wednesday afternoon tee times, taking off Friday afternoons to pack up the tent and sleeping bags and drive to a campground, putting off the first meeting on Monday until after lunch so you could get home from the cottage and drop off the laundry and empties. No, we don’t remember them, either. Ok, there’s a slight stretching of the truth here, but not entirely. On the latest episode of the Gaming News Canada Show presented by Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, Paul Burns teed up a busy summer of committee meetings, dealing with potential changes to sports betting advertising standards by the Alcohol and Gaming Association of Ontario, and other business for the president and CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association, and its members. Burns also addressed two Senate public bills which were introduced last week, one to create a framework around sports betting advertising across the country, and another to give First Nations the right to conduct and manage casinos in their communities. Sean Topchi, the director of business development for Kinectify, joined the show to provide some insight on the Las Vegas company’s work around responsible and also answer questions about the company’s new partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health to support that organization’s work with people struggling with problem gambling. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
