No Tactics

from Social Strategy Podcast: The Best in Business, Wealth and Mindset

So this isn't your normal podcast post it's a little raw.  You're going to notice the audio sounds a bit different and I'm referring to an app called Bumpers App.  It's a new podcasting app I'm trying out for creating more content in a quicker consumable way. In this episode, I'm riffing about why you don't need tactics in social media and marketing to be relevant or to come across as an authentic person to your audience.  Social Media tactics and marketing tactics that don't come from a place of service is what I touch on and I want to know what you think. Hit me up in the comments to share your thoughts.

No tactics. So, you know, I'm thinking about how so often People are so worried about tactics, and you know what tactic do I use for business and what tactic do I use for social media? And you know if I write it this way will people react this way, and I think it's just such bullshit when you really come down to it It's not about a tactic. It's not about how you can trick people into buying your stuff or sharing your content or recognizing What you've talked about is actually good your stuff actually has to be good and generally for to be good It has to mean something so you know over the past year.

I took this journey writing this book and it was hard It was hard because I'm not good writer. I like to talk of course. I like to hear myself talk I like to speak yeah I think I have a lot to say but you know it's amazing when you start putting pen to paper You start really thinking about what it is that you're writing the impact that it could possibly have and I don't think enough people think About that when they talk about their tactics especially on social media and Especially with the things that they put out into the world because it's not that you put out into the world I mean quite honestly That is what remains and people say that all we know it's social media You know it's passing and it goes away. It doesn't go away Especially the things that you write they can have a positive impact they can have a negative impact the things that you say can have a positive impact or a negative impact To the children's the people that you communicate with on a daily basis That's why I think it's so important that When I wrote this book this master message book that it's not just talking about attacking I'm not giving advice on do this do this do that do this do that you'll be great speaker I'm giving advice based on the stories that I've lived throughout my life and lessons that I've learned through them and some of the people That were kind enough to contribute to the book.

This is really isn't just like a thing about the book This is about tactics and getting people to stop doing it Stop worrying about whether or not your tactics exceeds One of the main relationships that I have right now one of the best relationships that I have right now The thing that got me to be able to teach a podcast in class at a frickin college is an article that I wrote a couple of years ago talking about how I was sad about the distinction that St. Louis has for Being a food desert and for there not being enough food for people that kind of stuff That is why I got the opportunity The woman that read it shared it she shared it with her husband her husband happened to be the professor at the university They got it ran the program That relationship formed from that now I reached out to him previously But because of that article she made him pay attention. I didn't write the article as a tactic I wrote the article I was pissed off because of the way I grew up and how important food pantries were in my life That's all I'm saying stop doing tactics actually care about what it is that you put out as I've said a lot of times And as you'll hear me say when I talk about this book and the message and everything behind the book When you write and I hope that you write when you journal The words that you write are the words that you leave behind Those things are going to impact the people in your lives They're gonna impact people that you don't even know about but your words are the things that you leave behind your stories or things that you leave behind And they matter they matter what kind of legacy are you leaving behind by the words that you're putting on to the world? It's definitely not a tactic This is very interesting.

These are some of my random thoughts Definitely help you follow the bumpers channel that you share this some of the music that you heard doing this was by this guy named Akim it's on sound cloud sound cloud calm Okeem official okay. I emo f f I c I a l Dude was awesome pianist out of looks like Great Britain Just a random guy found through a Gary Vaynerchuk video. I was watching. Hope you guys enjoyed the bumpers Share it check it out and I hope it meant something to you This is just kind of a random thought of your glass of wine I was thinking about tactics and how sick I am of hearing them and seeing people talk about tactics.
