Elsewhere, Southend United have appointed former Newcastle United and England international midfielder Kieron Dyer as Kevin Maher’s successor. The 47-year-old will make his managerial debut with the Shrimpers after coaching spells at Ipswich Town and Chesterfield. Another ex-England international Rob Lee has taken up a new role as Hornchurch’s Director of Football, ahead of their first-ever National League campaign. It will be the first permanent role at a club the former Charlton Athletic and Newcastle United player has taken since his retirement, returning to the club where he began his playing career.
