Non Profit Minute - Dawn Darby, The Therapy Place

Dawn Darby and Susan Abell had each been seeking programs for their sons with cerebral palsy and could only find those innovative services hours away from Columbia. They both thought the Midlands could do better so in March of 2008, they formed The Therapy Place as a nonprofit, 501(c)3. The vision from the start has been to see that all children with special needs will have every opportunity to pursue their goals, realize their dreams and reach their full potential. In addition, every parent or caregiver of those children will be provided with information, resources and encouragement in order to best support his or her child. In 2008, they served 8 children. Today, over 170 children come to The Therapy Place every week. _________
