Normal Is NOT Optimal 🙅🏻‍♀️

from The Glow Girl Podcast · host Alyssa Cuellar-Curl

Normal is NOT optimal (and I'm not just referring to lab work) 🙅🏻‍♀️ Being tired all the time shouldn’t be a personality trait. Experiencing bloating after every meal, heavy/ painful periods, migraines, achey joints etc is not normal. It’s common, but not normal. Just because something is NORMALIZED and can be "trendy" doesn't mean it's okay to live with. ”My doctor keeps telling me my labs look normal and everything is fine, but I don’t feel like myself at all.” I hear it ALL 👏🏼THE 👏🏼TIME👏🏼  If this is you, I sympathize with you — it can feel extremely frustrating not getting the answers you feel like you deserve.😤 You may not know this, but western practitioners and functional practitioners look at labs differently.  Modern medicine is trained to diagnose and treat active disease, whereas the functional and holistic space focuses on the prevention of disease. Here’s why your doctor keeps telling you you’re fine, even though you feel like something is off 👇🏼 Modern medicine’s “normal” is based on the average test results of 70% of the American population. You don't see many healthy people in the doctors office often, so a lot of lab ranges are based off an unhealthy population. Functional lab markers have more ranges, including low, optimal, elevated + high. We want our labs to fall under the “optimal range” instead of the normal range (they’re 2 different things) because this is when our body is functioning at its best. When they fall in the high or low ranges we know we need to address the underlying root cause to prevent future diseases. So if you're still feeling crappy and your doc is telling you "your labs are good", get a second opinion. ✨In my practice, I run a saliva or DUTCH test for all my clients to get a clear depiction of where their levels are at. This helps us get to the root cause of their symptoms so they can feel better and heal much quicker 🙌🏼 In this episode, I talk all about my journey with hormonal imbalances, gut and mental health issues and how I was able to get to the root cause of my issues (and how I help my clients do the same 😉). When we bring the body to balance, we can start to see a decrease in unwanted symptoms + continue to prevent future health problems 👏🏼 Ready to optimize your metabolism and hormones without the restrictive protocols, so you can finally live your best life?
