Norse Edge Oakland, Advance in Horizon League

Northern Kentucky Universitys Norse mens basketball team secured a narrow victory over Oakland, eighty-five to eighty-four, in the Horizon League Championship. The Norse maintained a lead throughout the second half, fending off a late surge to progress to the next round. Despite both teams having similar win records, Northern Kentucky emerged victorious on the road in Michigan. The Norse demonstrated strong field goal shooting and turnover management, scoring eleven points off Oaklands errors while conceding just four. Although they faced challenges from three-point range and at the free-throw line, making eighteen of thirty attempts, they limited Oakland to under forty-two percent overall, despite the Grizzlies hitting thirteen threes. Standout performances from Donovan Oday, LJ Wells, Kael Robinson, Dan Gherezgher, and Tae Dozier propelled Northern Kentucky to victory. The Norse now advance to Indianapolis for Sundays second-round matchup against Green Bay, aiming to keep their postseason aspirations alive.
