North Carolina Weather: 02-21-2026

from The North Carolina Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the North Carolina Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, grab that umbrella before you grab your coffee. Rain is the main character today, and it's not being subtle about it. Here's the deal. Down in the Piedmont, you're hitting 62 degrees. Sounds lovely, right? But showers are likely all afternoon. Two out of three chances you get wet. Winds are barely a whisper at 3 miles an hour, so at least your umbrella won't turn inside out. Tonight things calm down. Lows settle into the upper 40s. Over in the Triangle, same script with even more rain. Showers are likely here too. Highs reach 60 degrees with a gentle west breeze at 2 miles an hour. By tonight the rain eases off. Partly cloudy skies move in, and lows hang near 50 degrees. Now head west into the mountains. You're catching a break from the rain. Highs hit 60 degrees with northwest winds at 5 miles an hour. Just enough breeze to remind you it's still February. Skies stay mostly clear tonight, dropping to the mid 40s. Honestly, perfect evening for a porch sit if you ask me. Here's what's coming your way this week. More scattered showers linger through Monday, especially east of the mountains. By midweek a weak cold front nudges temperatures down a few degrees. Nothing brutal. Just February gently tapping you on the shoulder. Air quality today is moderate, so if you're sensitive, you'll want to take it easy outside. One bright spot worth celebrating. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight every day now. Sunrise at 6:32, sunset at 5:20. That extra evening light? Chef's kiss. Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a neighbor who hates getting caught in the rain. Stay safe out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
