North Words: A Life on the Tug Hill Plateau

On February's edition of North Words, we’ll learn about John “Old Lard” Clemens, an early 20th century logger from the Tug Hill plateau. Two descendants are the keepers of his archives, including a trove of letters he exchanged with a Syracuse radio host in the 1950s. Plus, we’ll talk with writer Mark Wish, who lives in Tully. His new novel is a murder mystery set in the highly competitive New York City literary scene – a scene Wish is intimately familiar with. And NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert producer, Bobby Carter, joins us to talk about this year’s Tiny Desk Contest and how musical talent can come from unexpected places.
