North Words: August 2026

On the latest episode of North Words, we talk about the life and work of a forensic science pioneer with Rachel Monroe.  Monroe is a writer for The New Yorker and a longtime visitor to the Adirondacks, and Blue Mountain Lake in particular. Later, we’ll meet Julius Faubel, a former software engineer from Munich, Germany, who is now a master boat model-maker.  For a third consecutive summer, he is the builder-in-residence at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton.  And then we’ll focus on some full-sized boats, and look back at the summer of 1976, when the Olympic sailing competition played out on Lake Ontario.
