Northern Ireland Heating Oil Voucher Surge | Belfast News

Northern Ireland’s new $100 heating oil voucher program is already a hit—over 50,000 applications in just 24 hours—with nearly two-thirds of homes relying on oil for heat. Funded with $36 million, it targets low-income households and includes digital prepaid cards, but early concerns arise as some may misuse funds to buy coal instead. Officials are monitoring and working with suppliers to ensure compliance, while applicants have until March 31 to apply and a few months to use their vouchers before they expire.
