Northern Soul – From a New Jersey Parish to a Trappist Cell – Fr Joe Tedesco

Carmela is joined by Fr Joe Tedesco, a Trappist monk sent from Mepkin Abbey in South Carolina to help grow the small community at Bethlehem Abbey in Northern Ireland. He talks through the rhythm of the divine office, sung seven times a day from four in the morning, and the moment on retreat when he heard the words that ended twenty-eight years as a parish priest. There's also the one part of his old life he still hasn't quite gotten over giving up. Feedback and questions: [email protected], or by text or WhatsApp to +353-89467-2000.
