Com um percurso que cruza continentes e décadas, Luís Norton de Matos é uma das figuras mais versáteis do futebol português. Jogador, treinador e dirigente, iniciou carreira nos anos 70 e passou por clubes como Benfica e Standard Liège, onde viveu momentos marcantes tanto a nível desportivo como pessoal. Como treinador, o trajeto é igualmente internacional: Senegal, Guiné-Bissau, Índia, França e Bélgica são alguns dos países por onde passou, para além de diversos emblemas nacionais. Atualmente, aos 71 anos, mantém-se ativo na observação de jovens talentos, colaborando com clubes na identificação de jogadores em idade de formação. Apesar da vasta experiência e de uma rede de contactos consolidada, Norton de Matos reconhece as dificuldades impostas pelas dinâmicas atuais do mercado: “Vemos jogadores que fazem três coisinhas e no dia seguinte já valem milhões. É uma indústria muito inflacionada”, afirma. Como exemplo da gestão mais racional, aponta o trabalho de Luís Campos no Paris Saint-Germain, elogiando a capacidade de identificar jogadores com elevado rendimento desportivo: “Olhamos para as transferências de João Neves por 60 milhões ou Vitinha por 40 milhões e percebemos que, por esses valores, quase que foram de borla.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
