A percapita recession has been confirmed in yesterday's national accounts with economic growth person going backwards in the last two quarters. While that's not a technical recession - defined by two consecutive quarters of economic contraction - Australia's economy is edging deeper into a downturn with Treasurer Jim Chalmers describing growth as "sturdy".
