That moment you really thought you heard a weird noise, but it actually was your Gmail or whatever email service you use Just notify you to tell you that your school loan bill is ready Ain't nothing scary than that right? Hey guys good morning good evening good night good day wherever whenever and whoever you are and you're listening to this Hey as we walk podcast here your girl canny so It's been a while I am right now busy to the point where the last thing I can even think about really is to relax This is actually have a week and a couple days off before I'm back on the grind all over again And I am going to try to make a few episodes within this week to try to make up for lost time. How are you doing? I'm good.

You good. I'm good. I hope you're good The reason why I decided to make this episode For one is the actual you know the news of Wonderful gentlemen not gonna get into names and all these things because everyone should at this point everyone is aware and everyone knows Who is a billionaire? Wonderful man and he decided to pay the loans off for many students who recently graduated because he spoke at during their commencement at the At Morehouse of course and he decided to pay off and he made a promise pay off loans now Me I am ecstatic for them.

I'm really happy for you guys I am hopeful I I feel good knowing that for all these years because trust me not everybody gets it done in four years But for however long you got it done you got it done and now you get to leave and Walk away from this debt free at least for school and that is one of the things that many of us who go to school Would love to have and we don't have that so of course. I'm happy for y'all Now my question was that actually posted this on my personal Facebook and Instagram cam the thinker on Instagram I said well congratulations to everyone from Morehouse who have you know got their loans pay for But what about you know who's gonna walk into? Naviance I think I'm pronouncing it incorrectly Fed loan, which is what my servicing company Sally May and even For your schools themselves who is going to walk into these buildings and do the same now? I understand that just by me saying this it's actually going to be Either controversial semi controversial you might not care it might not bother you as much But I've tried to look at things in a different way Now besides the happiness in knowing and understanding That this is something that is beautiful because you have someone who has this this wealth and who has this money and the power to do such Is doing it and it's wonderful But I also look at the other side of it This is only a band-aid to cover the wound the wound is still there Because this is only a small percentage of students that are actually going to walk away debt free compared to the national average of us That constantly build upon the debt ceiling within this country I Don't have any facts or figures to bring to you to say we're at billions Which we probably are or even trillions which I wouldn't be surprised if we were but for me I'm just looking at the general fact the general consensus There are so many of us Who decide to go to school?

We look at the pros and the cons of going to school and a lot of the pros outweighs the cons. Let's be honest Yes, especially nowadays. There are more schools that are asking For us to have degrees the other side to this and for me. I look at this in a way of saying There's not enough education within the educational system Even when we are going to school elementary is one thing but when you are I would say even junior high Should be a time that you should be really educated about college You should be educated about knowing what you're getting into because it is true before you know it you are walking At your high school graduation and they're all asking you the same question.

Where are you going? And I feel that there's not enough the most I would say especially being a New Yorker is When you're in junior high the one thing that they push and I would even say probably by now it has to be even elementary Is they push the whole specialized high school on you and for those who don't know specialized high schools are those high schools that we have to take tests for? Specifically because these are like I'd say like a magnet school. You'd say School you know schools are higher level and then I only know a few names off the top You know because there's like the most the most known you got Brooklyn Tech and you have Stuyves and there are several more Some are controlled by the state some are controlled by the city and with these schools These are schools where it's a lot I would say a lot more beneficial and it leads I would feel to a lot more open doors.

I try to get in and it did not work for me I'm not mad though and with all of this still during that time you don't really get that much education with college high school I would say counselors guidance counselors they do their very best but again It's when you actually are in the environment of a college or university or even community college That's when you actually Unfortunately get an understanding and the reason why I say unfortunately because there's still so much that you still don't know Now the academic advisors that you can have and this is not for everyone and it's you know This is not to bash anyone who is a lot of advisors. We're also just students. So they don't know They don't know that much So they only can give you what they are allowed to give you what they can what they know But other than that they don't know as much So when I look at You know having an advisor and you ask all these questions, it's almost like they're like well I have to find this out for you. Let me get some information.

Let me help you a lot I'm not saying no one a lot do they're very best to help but again if they are not also properly Fully trained in certain areas. There are going to be gaps and we have to be honest and as an advisor you're human You're not going to know every single thing and this is where I would say there's not a education with education We are at a loss again so You go to school as I will go back to and you get all these all of these degrees and You think that when you graduate you're going to get a job that will pay you because of the degree you have and let's look at a lot of resumes and Let's look at a lot of requirements. You will see a lot of resumes that will show you that they got a BA or BS or Massed an MS MBA PhD I mean there's so many and they say okay, you have a master's or PhD That's great, but we need we need someone with five to six years experience Where are you gonna get that experience from? So here you are you work so hard to get such a degree and now you're stuck at an entry-level job with those who are either Working towards their degree or they just same as you having a degree and no experience So this is where I feel even though you have an internship to me that doesn't do anything because internships Let me stand.

Let me correct myself Internships can help if they're in the field of study if they are in your field of study and they actually lead into other things That's something else But for the most part if you have an internship that is not necessarily what you want to do It doesn't help because it only shows that you did something in this in this area But not necessarily in what you want to study and what you want to have as a career again not enough education within education So now this builds up and now you have all these degrees or degree and you have these loans And now instead of being able to make that hundred and forty thousand that you've always seen with such a degree You are making fifty thousand you're making fifty thousand and you have over a hundred thousand in loans You have rent you have utilities if you have a car. It's also another bill. We're also paying taxes So let's let's remember that part to New York. We actually pay we have state We have state city and we also have federal and I just saw you have Metro Tech So look at your paychecks also.

I just noticed that it was probably I think it was three or four bucks We got something new in terms of tax MTA who'd have thought not surprised but um I look I read that article today and I was so happy but yet I felt again so alone alone Not saying that there's no one there to understand your plight but alone in knowing okay Who is there to help us who is there? Who will walk into these buildings and say Sally may I want to pay off the loans for this many students? I we understand I get it not everyone is going to have such an opportunity But give it to someone let just not because I just graduate be the reason why you want to do it What about those who have been paying loans for over 10 to 15 years? What about those who end up dying and these loans sit there and it just stays as debt for the country because where they're gonna get the money from They don't have an estate necessarily for them to pay it So when I look at these kind of articles I always look at it as just a band-aid the band-aid that the wound is still there and it's still fresh and we do not Take that time to really get into the women truly clean it up and dress it and have it to actually where it can heal and Become stronger.

We're not there yet And I don't know when or if and it's more emphasis on if because again Human nature we do not see others problems until we sit in these problems And then when we sit in it then we are so we we are so adamant and we oh I have to help I need to help But other than that it doesn't it doesn't matter So fortunately For the graduates who receive such a blessing God bless I'm happy for you, but I still look at the mirror every day. I right now. I'm a crewing I have a crewing right now my debt I had debt it kind of paused because I left school but I'm back in the ring and because of that you are going to accrue debt and I'm grateful. You know that I'm staying in state.

I'm staying in the city. I'm going to school while I'm here where I live And not away So I will be a crewing debt But it won't be as much as I did when I left for the year and For everyone else. I don't know if you feel the same as I do. I don't know You know if you have the same plight as I do and I know many do because I know of those who When I was a freshman, they were a junior and they were already about a hundred thousand in the hole So I know that many of you understand where I'm coming from and understand what I'm saying.

So it's not gonna be a very very long Podcast today. It's not gonna be long But this is something that I had to talk about because this is something that was on Ling and wing very very heavily on me And I had to discuss it disclaimer Any other noises that you have heard could be the house phone could be my cat Even for me by coughing sneezing anything I homely apologize for any noise. I really hope that everyone enjoyed this episode It's not as long as I'd like it to be But I don't have that much. I just kind of wanted to get into that issue mainly and most of all I hope that someone would listen to this and actually write in I have our email as we walk pod at gmail.com I really hope that you know, you can write in and also give me your point of view even if you think I'm wrong Let me know.

Let me see something different perspective and continue the conversation. So next episode I can actually bring these things up and I can actually discuss with All of you. I thank you so much for listening. I thank you so much for Unfortunately, I am not consistent as I would like to be and I'm hoping to have some type of consistency at some point But for now when I do make these I really hope that you do listen and I hope that you do enjoy So good morning good evening good afternoon good day wherever and whenever you're listening to this goodbye This is the ad as we podcast have a great one guys
