Not Everyone Grew Up Belonging.

In a world where many people feel increasingly disconnected, what can we learn from the culture that still thrives at HBCUs? Ayanna Dennis reflects on growing up in a small town and the powerful sense of belonging she found at North Carolina Central University. From professors who genuinely check in on students to the weekly “10:40 AM” gatherings where the entire campus pauses to connect, Ayanna describes a college experience rooted in community, support, and real relationships. If you’ve ever wondered what makes these institutions special, or why so many students say they finally found their place there, this conversation will make you think differently about belonging. All opinions expressed by guests do not reflect the views of "I Love My HBCU?" A new episode premieres every Saturday at Noon EST.
