However, Ada demands a steep price of 1 million Naira forher services. Suspicious of her loyalty, the Honourable’s wife insists that Adamust first swear an oath at the Shrine before any money is exchanged.Meanwhile, the Honourable expresses deep concern that he is losing theelection as the public loses confidence in his leadership, particularlyfollowing a failed attack on his rival, Utugbaraigwe. To secure a win,the Hon. and his "boys" hatch a criminal scheme to buy off anddestroy voters' cards in Majie’s constituency. They plan to offer citizensbetween 5,000 and 10,000 Naira to surrender their cards, therebydisenfranchising them and ensuring nobody features on election day.Additionally, Hon. orders his thugs to "take down" and "dealwith" Majie to stop him from preaching against vote-buying.The narrative takes a turn when Ada ultimately refuses to swear at theshrine, citing her Christian faith. She reveals that she was merely "pullingthe leg" of the Honourable’s wife, Osodieme, to expose her truecharacter and warns her to repent.
