Not One of the Pastors — Week 1

from LifeWell Messages

Opening the “Not One of the Pastors” series, this message dismantles the idea that ministry belongs only to church staff. From Ephesians 4:11–12, the work of pastors and teachers is to equip the saints — every believer — for the work of service, including in the community and especially the workplace. The teaching distinguishes the office of minister, the gifting to minister (discerned within the church, not in isolation), and the calling to minister that rests on all believers, who are God's handiwork created for good works prepared in advance (Ephesians 2:10). Using the image of someone eating your lunch — they are hungry and want what you have — the message calls Christians to be salt and light at work through informational, invitational, visitational, and conversational approaches. It closes on Christ's authority in Matthew 28 and Isaiah's response: “Here am I, send me.”
