Not One of the Pastors — Week 3
from LifeWell Messages
A utility company president delivers a “finger-point” message aimed first at himself, built around a phrase from his Appalachian upbringing: “don't get above your raisin.” From Romans 12:3, the call is to think of yourself with sober judgment, because pride starts a downhill slide that separates us from others by position, power, or wealth. Through the story of a grandmother who lost everything in the Depression yet never lost her joy or authenticity, the teaching argues that influence does not require a title. God's plan for a life is beyond our expectations; the limit is not God but our fear and lack of trust. Drawing on James 5 and 1 Corinthians 12, the message warns against making material success the yardstick and urges authentic Christian leadership at every level of society. Like Paul, who came “in weakness and fear,” believers are equipped by the Spirit — just lead like it.
