Not Recognising Jesus

Two downcast disciples walk beside Jesus without recognising Him, even after hearing that His tomb was empty. God delays recognition so Jesus can rebuild their disappointed hope from Scripture, showing why the promised King had to suffer before entering glory. Their eyes open when He breaks bread. His risen presence restores their hope, and His shared meals point towards the wedding supper where He will welcome believers into lasting joy.
