Not recovering well? Try a de-load week. When gains are slowing, and your body isn't recovering as well, you might need to take a week or two and lower your volume. Now, some people might need to drop down to only do light movement and walking, but most of us can simply slash our volume to a third of what we normally do. This keeps our muscles engaged but limits the load so they recover quickly. I'm doing a de-load week in prep for my Spartan races this weekend, although the timing is also good since I wasn't recovering well recently.
