"Not So Silent Night: The Songs of Christmas" Week 2

We continue our Christmas sermon series, Not So Silent Night. Last week, we looked at the proclamation of Elizabeth when she saw the pregnant Mary for the first time. This Sunday, we will examine Mary’s response. Her song, called the Magnificat, is a precious declaration of the magnificence of our Lord God. He moved in a very special and mighty way in Mary’s life, but He is moving still in ours. Come and hear what Mary’s song still says to us today, over 2,000 Christmases later.Series OverviewOur 2024 Christmas sermon series is “Not So Silent Night: The Songs of Christmas.” In this series, we will study the songs of Christmas recorded in the book of Luke and celebrate again the glorious birth of our Savior. Many traditions make Christmas memorable. There are so many sights, smells, and tastes that instantly bring up feelings and memories in us: that one special ornament, the scent of the fresh-cut tree, the taste of that one desert that is only made in December. But more powerful than any of those are the sounds, specifically the songs of Christmas. Nothing makes it feel more like Christmas than the hymns, songs, and carols we know and love. This makes perfect sense when you realize that songs have literally been a part of Christmas from the beginning.
