Nothing You Do in Faith Is Forgotten | Come Follow Me Sleep Meditation | Esther

Rest tonight in the quietest kind of miracle — a good deed written down and forgotten by everyone but God. A Come Follow Me sleep meditation for August 3–9, "Thou Art Come . . . For Such a Time as This" (Esther, with Mordecai at the king's gate). This week we sit with Mordecai, an ordinary man at an ordinary city gate in Shushan, who overhears a plot against a king who is not his friend, in a kingdom that is not his home — and tells the truth anyway. A scribe writes it in the book of the chronicles, closes the book, and puts it on a shelf. Then nothing happens. No thank you. No reward. Years pass. And then one night, in a palace where everyone else is asleep, the king's sleep goes from him, he calls for the driest book in the house, and a servant reads aloud in the dark until he reaches one small entry about a man at a gate who told the truth. Elder Ronald A. Rasband taught that what looks like random chance is in fact overseen by a loving Father in Heaven — that the Lord is in the small details of our lives.
