Notre Dame Defense Shines Offense Struggles | Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football News

Notre Dame’s defense is elite early in 2026, averaging just six and a half points allowed per game while forcing turnovers—showing promise even with injuries. The passing game is showing signs of life, led by CJ Carr’s arm and emerging receivers like Jordan Faison, Micah Gilbert, and Jaden Greathouse. But the run game remains inconsistent, with Nolan James flashing potential but not yet delivering the sustained power needed. For the Irish to be truly dominant, the offense must evolve—especially the passing game to support the defense and the run game to become reliable. Expect close watching as the schedule heats up.
