Notre Dame Lands Veteran Point Guard | Notre Dame Basketball News

Notre Dame just landed a basketball gem: Braeden Smith, a savvy veteran point guard from Gonzaga, is headed to South Bend for the 2026-27 season. A Seattle native and graduate transfer, Smith brings elite experience after starring at Colgate — where he earned Patriot League Player of the Year as a sophomore. Known for his court vision, ball-handling mastery, and leadership, he’s already proven himself on winning teams. At Gonzaga, he played in all 35 games, averaging 5 points and 3 assists while boasting an elite assist-to-turnover ratio. Before that, he was a National Freshman finalist and helped Colgate reach two NCAA Tournaments. With career averages near 10 points and 4 assists per game — and top-50 career assists among active players — Smith is poised to make an instant impact and elevate Notre Dame’s backcourt. Coach Shrewsberry couldn’t be more excited — this is exactly the veteran presence they’ve been waiting for. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
