Notre Dame’s Winning Start and RB Committee | Wisconsin Badgers Football News

Notre Dame’s ranked fourth squad opened the 2026 season with a gritty 41-13 win over Wisconsin, overcoming a sloppy first half to dominate after halftime and secure that crucial 1-0 record. Coach Marcus Freeman praised the effort while acknowledging room for growth, reminding players that true grit comes from experiencing tough battles firsthand. He also outlined his plan for the running back corps — no single star will carry the load; instead, a rotating committee will keep defenses off balance. With confidence in his backs’ fall camp and spring ball performances, Freeman believes consistency will follow. The Irish are off to a solid start, but the real test lies ahead as they watch this committee evolve and sustain momentum.
