The last time Forest hosted Stoke at The City Ground, the hosts saw their play-off hopes dashed by the Potters amid a dramatic evening on Trentside. This time, the match wasn't quite so eventful but Chris Hughton's side did enough to earn a draw and with it, secure Championship safety for next season. After Rabbi Matondo had put Stoke ahead in the first half, Lewis Grabban made up for an earlier miss by netting five minutes into the second period, latching on to a poor piece of defending to poke the ball home. Forest saw more of the ball and edged the game in chances created but had to settle for a point.
