What are we thankful for? Our "BEST OF" Show moves away from the dominant perspectives and stories about the holiday(Thanksgiving) by replaying some shows that touch on narratives and the work that people in various communities are doing to re-frame, redistribute, and re-centralize the experiences of the most marginalized. Khader Abu Seif, an actor in the film, "Oriented", discusses his life as a gay Palestinian born and living in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, and the mainstream media's false portrayal of LGBT Palestinians' lived experiences and struggles. Jonathan Lykes is a Black queer artist, activist and policy analyst at the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP), who is passionate about addressing dis-proportionality and disparities that effect LGBTQ and gender non-conforming youth. Jonathan speaks on the importance of visibilizing the stories of young LGBTQ youth of color, especially girls of color, due to the high percentage of LGBT youth in juvenile detention center.
