NOVEMBER 29 - Trust Issues3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 28:26; Psalm 137; Joshua 21–22//3-Year Bible Devotional Book Available on Amazon//________________________________________Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered. —Proverbs 28:26How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land? —Psalm 137:4Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass. —Joshua 21:45________________________________________Life gets complicated. You have decisions to make, emotions to navigate, people to deal with—and sometimes it feels like your own brain is your only GPS. But Proverbs 28:26 warns us: leaning only on your own understanding isn’t just risky—it’s foolish. Why? Because feelings can be misleading, thoughts can be clouded, and we don’t see the full picture like God does. Psalm 137 shows us what it’s like to be in a dark place, struggling to stay hopeful. The Israelites were grieving in exile, far from home, wondering if they’d ever feel joy again. And yet, in Joshua 21, we’re reminded that not one of God’s promises failed. Even when it felt like everything was falling apart, He was still working things out—perfectly, faithfully.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Who are you trusting? When life gets confusing or emotional, do you automatically go with your gut—or do you pause and ask God for wisdom? Trusting your own heart over God’s Word can lead you into trouble.2. How do you respond in hard times? Like the people in Psalm 137, there may be seasons when joy feels far away. But even in sadness, God invites us to draw near to Him, not pull away.3. God keeps His word: Joshua 21:45 is a major reminder that God never breaks a promise. Even if the timeline feels slow, His faithfulness never fails.________________________________________BOTTOM LINEFeelings change, circumstances shift, and our own minds can trick us—but God’s wisdom is solid, and His promises never miss. Don’t rely on yourself. Lean on the One who always comes through.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, Sometimes I think I know best, and I act without asking You for guidance. Help me to trust You more than my feelings, more than my instincts. Thank You for keeping every promise and never giving up on me, even when things feel confusing or heavy. Help me to lean into Your wisdom and walk in Your truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
