Nulu Adaptive Knives with Douglas Katz Ep 185

from Grounded in Maine

This conversation with Doug Katz went deeper than expected, but it was SO good! Doug is a retired Military Veteran who has used his disability as inspiration to create adaptive items. He just started selling the Nulu adaptive knife last summer - it's inspired by the Inuit ULU, but adjusted to accommodate his and others' disability. Talking with Doug, I learned that there are Adaptive Libraries across the country, so that someone can try an item before buying. The conversation got deep when we went into whether a disability is really a disability, which may have gone a little off topic, but I felt like it was too important a thread to not pull on, and I'm glad we did. This is a topic that I've thought a lot about, but haven't really had the chance to vocalize, and I imagine Doug is always ready to go into it.I love Doug's entrepreneurial spirit and his inventor mind - and how he's working to extend independence for people. Here's Doug's website for Nulu Knives: https://nuluknives.com/He's on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/d.m.katzHe's on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/DOUGLASMKATZ/If you loved this ability convo and would like Doug to speak, here's his speaker link: https://dougkatz8.wixsite.com/douglasmkatzIf you're interested in buying the NULU knife, here's an affiliate link with a discount: https://nuluknives.com/discount/GIM-NULUSend me a message!Support the showLike this episode?
