Number Of Social Homes Delivered In Clare Halves In A Year

The number of social homes delivered in Clare has halved in a year. The Department of Housing's Social Housing Construction Projects Status Report for the first quarter of 2026 shows construction was completed on just 13 homes in the opening three months of the year. A total of 27 social homes were delivered in the same period of 2025 - more than double the figure for the first quarter of this year. 18 social housing projects are at various stages of development in Clare at present, comprising 168 homes, and Clare Social Development Strategic Policy Committee Chairperson, Sixmilebridge Fine Gael Councillor John Crowe, says the shortage of tradespeople is slowing progress.
