Numbers 14

from Perfectly Imperfect Together · host Perfectly Imperfect Together

In Numbers 14, the Israelites are hopeless. They are overwhelmed with fear rather than faith. They don't trust God and His promises. They've seen God's power move time and time again yet they doubt and refuse to believe or obey. God has the power to give them the Promised land and told them He would. Caleb and Joshua are the only two that stand up in faith on that promise and are therefore, the only two from this generation that will get to enter the Promised land. God is frustrated with the sin and unbelief of His people, but Moses once again intercedes and prays for them. Moses knows and understands God's wrath and judgment; however, he also knows His character. He knows God is slow to anger, loving, and forgiving. God knows what He is going to do. He knows His will and is going to bring it forth one way or another. He was waiting for Moses to pray. Prayer is powerful. Our prayers should always align with the truth of who God is. His character should guide every one of our prayers. Because of this generation's refusal to obey, trust, and have faith in God, they will now have to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. Their children will get the land that has been promised by God instead of them. Every generation has a brand new, fresh chance at having confident faith in God. It is so important to not doubt God or lose faith in Him. We can all choose to trust and rest in God every single day. He is faithful.
