Nursing Students Bring Care to Argentina | Bakersfield News
from Bakersfield News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Twenty-one Cal State Bakersfield nursing students just returned from a groundbreaking trip to Argentina, where they delivered vital medical care, taught public health practices, and partnered with local communities in the Tartagal region. It was their first mission to Argentina, but part of a growing global initiative since 2017 that’s reached Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Zambia. They tackled real-world health challenges like pediatric lice, parasite prevention, and diabetic foot care — all while earning heartfelt gratitude from the communities they served. Beyond hands-on care, they hosted a major educational conference for 200 local nursing students, donated 150 books and 16 training mannequins, and left behind lasting resources. One student called it “eye-opening and humbling” — a once-in-a-lifetime experience that reshaped their understanding of global health and cultural connection.
