NXT, AEW: Surprise title change, big return, problem with under-delivering

There was a shocking, unexpected title change in NXT and the return of a top-tier star in AEW that made headlines as the shows went head-to-head Wednesday night. Host Adam Silverstein opens the show diving into an average of edition of NXT [2:30], including the booking of Johnny Gargano dropping the North American championship, pushing Io Shirai vs. Rhea Ripley so soon and what's next for Tommaso Ciampa, Santos Escobar and Pat McAfee's Kings of NXT. "The Silver King" then moves into a disappointing episode of AEW Dynamite [23:15], which promised to follow Full Gear with a show that would shift the "balance of power in wrestling." Spoiler alert: It did not.
